Mid-Season Crop Scouting & In-Season Adjustments

As we hit the heart of the growing season, July is the month to dial in your crop management strategies. Rapid growth in corn and soybeans - along with second or third cuttings in hayfields-makes this the ideal time to assess what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to be adjusted to protect yield potential.

Why Crop Scouting Matters Now

Mid-season crop scouting gives you a real-time view of what your fields are telling you. Are there signs of nutrient deficiencies? Weed escapes? Insect pressure or early signs of disease? Spotting these now gives you a chance to respond before they cost you bushels or bales.

What to Watch For

Corn & Soybeans

Look for yellowing leaves, poor canopy development, weed competition, and pest activity.

Hayfields & Pastures

Check for stand health, broadleaf weed pressure or nutrient deficiencies.

In-Season Adjustments That Pay

Foliar nutrient applications to address visible deficiencies

Post-emergence herbicide rescue treatments for weed breakthrough

Insecticide applications based on scouting thresholds

Tissue sampling to guide second-half fertility plans

Our field sales representatives are available to walk fields with you, evaluate pressure points, and help you respond in real time with solutions tailored to your crop and your ground.

Now is not the time to coast - it’s the time to correct, protect, and finish strong. Contact your nearest Rockingham Cooperative Agronomy location to connect with a field rep and keep your season on track.
