Thinking about canning this season or looking to brush up on best practices? Join us for a food preservation safety program led by experts from Virginia Cooperative Extension.
This program will walk through the differences between pressure canning and water bath canning, when each method should be used, and why proper technique matters. Attendees will also learn about recommended equipment, trusted resources, and common mistakes to avoid when preserving food at home.
Following the program, Extension staff will offer free pressure canner lid testing to check gauges, gaskets, and seals. Lids can be brought with you or dropped off ahead of time if you’re unable to stay for the full event.
